The legendary Mercedes 300SL Gullwing inspired this modern reincarnation of the iconic model. Unlike many modern iterations of classic designs that fail to capture older design cues, the Mercedes SLS AMG encompassed many of the elements that made the original 300SL so beautiful. Utilizing carbon fiber in various body panels and structural components, along with a special titanium exhaust, the Black Series was lightened by 150 pounds over the standard SLS. Power was increased to 622hp by reconfiguring camshafts, valve train, exhaust, and air induction. This produced a 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds with a top speed governed to 196 mph. Increased performance figures and more aggressive aesthetics along with a limited production run made these cars instant collectibles.
