Taking place the first weekend of August, we have a very special, early 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230SL being auctioned at the first annual Auctions America California Sale. Throughout the past few years, Auctions America, which is a subsidiary of RM Auctions, has gained recognition and now competes with names like Russo & Steele and Mecum. The star cars of this sale include a great Mercedes 300SL Roadster with a lot of originality points that we love to see, as well as a 72 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 sitting on Borrani wire wheels. In fact, we actually own one of these 365’s that is getting an extensive amount of engine work done which should be available in the coming months.

Auctions America is looking to kick off this new sale with a bang by partnering with NBC Sports Network. NBC will be broadcasting live coverage of the sale and it just so happens that our little 230SL will have its 15 minutes of fame during one of the 3 days.  The car is particularly special because of its stunning original colors of black with red interior. Along with the rare color combination is the list of factory options that include leather interior, Becker radio, side view mirror, and power steering. In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the “Pagoda” Mercedes, LBI wanted to offer at auction, the purest form of Pagoda motoring in rare, desirable colors complete with a recent restoration and 2-tops.
