The Overview

History

The Ford Bronco was one of the first arrivals in the then-new off-road-focused SUV space. Built on its own chassis with standard 4WD, locking hubs, and a Dana transfer case, it set the stage for competitors like the Chevrolet Blazer, Jeep Cherokee, and International Scout II to round out the roster of trucks that were both capable on dirt trails and on the road.

Despite its age, the first-generation Bronco chassis remains popular in the off-road community. There are a plethora of companies building, modifying, and recreating this legendary off-roader, breathing new life into the model with modern powertrain, suspension, and even carbon fiber composite body panels. The list of modifications and build specification combinations is nearly endless. The value is in the quality of the build, the components, and the aesthetics of the final product. It is certainly a “to each their own” kind of vehicle.

This Car

This particular example, Chassis # U15GLF71633, has a history that is largely lost to time. The paper trail starts in 2013, when it underwent a comprehensive, open-checkbook restoration and modification that finished in 2025. The focus for this Bronco build was modern off-road performance while retaining a classic look. Starting with the chassis and any needed modifications, this frame-off restoration addressed every last element. The body was painted a shiny gloss black to match the redone dashboard, with a contrasting white top on the rear. New windows and lights were installed in place of the originals, with new seals all around. New shocks, sway and traction bars, cross member, and Flowmaster mufflers were installed, while power is provided by a 5.0L V8 Ford Coyote crate engine from Summit Racing, outputting 420 hp through a Blumenthal 5-speed manual transmission. Underneath is an Atlas 3.0:1 Highlander 2-speed transfer case with Currie performance axles, a Currie 9-inch 3.70 ratio third member, and a Spicer 760X U-joint. The truck sits on white steelies with Warn locking hubs wrapped in BFGoodrich Baja Champion 235/80R17 off-road tires and Explorer disc brakes behind them.

The interior now features a new wiring harness, touchscreen infotainment system, and Vintage Air A/C kit. Modern gauges sit behind the slotted, three-spoke steering wheel, providing essential readouts for fuel, temperature, voltage, oil, speed, and RPM, plus a digital odometer and an additional MPH counter. The rest of the cabin is free of unnecessary additions, as the real stars of the show are hidden under the hood and underneath.

As it sits, this 1969 Ford Bronco has all the essentials needed for proper off-road performance without sacrificing the look and feel that made the original such an icon. The Coyote V8 ensures unrelenting speed whenever the need arises, while the Currie axles and third member turn any terrain into your personal playground. Included in the sale are a jack, spare, build records, manuals, and the radio remote.
