Come hungry for cars and cuisine. Leave with your bags full of goodies, or a trailer full of cars. It's really your choice.

It’s happening once again – whether you’re ready for it or not. Semi-trucks have started clogging the roadways, hotel lobbies are full of luggage and sun-screened patrons, restaurants are no longer taking reservations, and the airport Ubers are gassed up, ready to take you to the fifty places on your schedule.

Monterey Car Week is a GO!

As a full-time resident of Monterey, California I can’t help but have nervous butterflies thinking about the entire global car hobby descending on our quaint coastal community. It’s reminiscent of a Christmas break as a child. A month’s worth of buildup, knowing the unknown will eventually unwrap itself right in your arms.

But this is no holiday. The reality? Its high-stakes poker mixed with the Met gala. Currently, the landscape comprises of multiple auction houses packed with cars that are quite staggering in quality and value paired with Concours show fields that have an inherent investment in giving your car additional value, if it performs well. Everyone from the detailer to the CFO is invested in having a successful week – and it’s no easy task.

OEM manufacturers are here as well and spending huge dollars to get your attention. Private estates host private parties that will, and should, knock your socks off. Some members of these car makers spend most of their year to get in front of you for minutes during your visit to Car Week, so listen and take what they have for a drive.

The plagues have been printed for the numerous Concours and events that are ready for you to drive into. They are hosting vendors, food and beverage, flying out designers and YouTube stars to entertain you enough to come back, even if you didn’t win a big Tiffany & Company piece of crystal. Car clubs of all marques will arrive in tote, bringing members together from all over the world. There is nothing like the morning of a Concours, and nothing better than the confetti littered 18th green of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

It’s up to you to pick your poison. My highlights only scratch the surface of what’s going on over the next 7 days. Where do you spend your time? Is it strolling around auction previews at RM Sotheby’s, Gooding, Mecum, Bonhams, and Broad Arrow? Or Maybe you’re dedicated to the race track? Spending long and hot hours at Laguna Seca’s famed Corkscrew and watching wrenches spin in the paddock is a major component of what makes Car Week great.

Others are here solely for the lifestyle that classic and sports cars provide. The provenance of just being here, getting into hospitality suites and luxury dinners that very few even get invites to. High brow companies, making moves that affect the larger picture – now that’s the power of Pebble Beach.

Come hungry for cars and cuisine. Leave with your bags full of goodies, or a trailer full of cars. It’s really your choice. My suggestion to newcomers and veterans never waiver. Do the same few events every single year and never change that, but also mix in new activities you’ve never done, too. Don’t forget to find your tribe and run all over town with them, taking plenty of pictures. This will keep things fresh and gives you a reason to do it all over again.

Sticking to my own advice, it’s time to roll out a new regime, this time in our newly minted Veloce Media Headquarters. Nestled in the famed Lighthouse District in Monterey, this massive modern and industrial space is perfect for hosting and large events. Enter some of my long-term friends, LBI Limited who will be taking over the space with their Monterey Pop-Up Showroom. Expect to see cool cars, good eats, and plenty of friends who are making the most out of Car Week.

See you all soon,
