A few months ago, we stumbled upon two special cars that have been in an over 20 year slumber right here in Philadelphia. An early Jaguar XKE Coupe along with a rare XK-140 MC Coupe with overdrive stuffed away in a small repair shop were discovered by Andrew and Adolfo. The barn find was so interesting that an editor for Classic & Sports Car Magazine reached out to us wanting to write an article publicizing the new find! Below is the write-up:

“Adolfo Massari and Andrew Mastin run Luxury Brokers International in Philadelphia, and recently a friend told them of a local gentleman who wished to sell a pair of Jaguars. ‘We raced down to the rough Kensington section of the city,’ said Massari, ‘where lo and behold stood a 1963 Jaguar XKE and a 1955 XK140MC Coupe.’

The elderly owner had run a repair shop for 45 years, which has done servicing work on MG and Austin-Healey cars. Through this, he came to like British machinery and was the second owner of the E-type fixed-head coupe when he bought it in the early 70’s. He used it for some time before deciding to repaint it, then, when it came back from the paint shop, he thought that it needed better finishing and took off the bumper and headlight glass, putting them in the boot, but did nothing more to the car.

‘The E-type was in a dilapidated garage,’ said Massari. ‘We came just in time, because part of the roof had collapsed after Hurricane Sandy. The XK was stored slightly better in a dry garage next door, hidden behind years of tools and equipment. It was put into storage after sitting outside for years, with the intention of a restoration that the owner never got around to.’

The XK140 retains its matching engine, overdrive and original grey with red trim. MC is the US equivalent of SE (Special Equipment).” -Article by Michael Ware
