It feels like forever since we have been able to exercise our cars on the open road to escape the city for a change. This winter has been brutal, leaving us only able to gawk at our cars when stepping foot into the LBI Stable.  A couple weeks ago, we finally had some decent weather so we took advantage of it! We dusted off our newly acquired 1988 BMW M3 and 1971 Porsche 911T Sunroof and headed northwest toward the central Pennsylvania farm country.  Surprisingly enough, there are some excellent roads with elevation changes, tricky left/right hand combination turns, and long scenic straightaways.

The e30 M3 has and always will be a favorite here at LBI. The DTM inspired boxy look with its classic kidney grills and circle quad headlights make for a muscular, aggressive look with a seemingly gentle 4 cylinder power plant. Don’t underestimate its 192 hp engine. The high revving 2.3L coupled with stiff suspension, and performance 5-speed box make this car an absolute blast in the corners. Interestingly enough, in a straight line, it held its own against the 911T despite the 2 cylinder deficit.  BMW originally built these cars for Homologation purposes to compete with the Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 which we also have and will be doing a head to head comparison shortly.

Below are some photos from the day, enjoy!
